To promote a greater understanding of the geological, historical, ecological, environmental and social features of this mountain community, by offering opportunities for ecology research and hosting community-wide seminars by recognized experts in these fields.
To enhance the appreciation of traditional mountain culture, including the music, dance, theater and art of the area, by sponsoring community-wide events to showcase these cultural features.
To preserve and protect the natural resources and ecosystem of the area, by promoting policies that protect the area’s watershed, by expanding habitats for native animals and plants, and by acquiring and protecting land within the Sherwood Forest community to be maintained in a natural state.
To sponsor or conduct other activities that respond to the expressed needs and interests of the community and that are consistent with the mission.
To promote, enhance and preserve the natural resources and cultural heritage in the vicinity of Sherwood Forest and Cedar Mountain, NC.
