Build a Birdhouse Contest
Sponsored by Sherwood Forest Friends, Nature Nuts and The Cedar Mountain Community
It is our intention for everyone to be safe and physically distance during drop-off and pick-up. Please wear a mask out of respect for your neighbors.
Each participant may enter more than once. There is no limit.
There are 3 categories for entry: Youth (through 16 years of age), Adult, Families
All entries will be judged on the following criteria:
- Craftsmanship: 1- 10 points, with 10 being the highest
Things to consider include: sturdiness, use of recycled materials, quality of building, finished look-not thrown together, attention to details, functionality
- Aesthetics: 1-10 points with 10 being the highest
Things to consider include: color, form, design, texture, impact of overall appearance, appealing, eye-catching
- Imagination: 1-10 points with 10 being the highest
Things to consider include: theme, concept, quirkiness, creativity, inventiveness
Youth entries will be judged only against other youth entries; adult entries will be judged against other adult entries; family entries will be judged against families.
Cash and “surprises” will be awarded to the top 3 finishers in each category. All kids who enter in the “Youth” or “Family” category will receive a ticket for a free ice cream cone at Creekside Market.
On August 8th bring your birdhouse to the Cedar Mountain Community Center between 9:30 and 10:30 am, and leave your birdhouse in the appropriate area for your category. All entries must be accompanied by a completed entry form, download here. To adhere to Covid 19 restrictions, judging will be closed to the public, and contestants are asked to leave and return to pick up birdhouses between 12:00 and 1:00. Winners will be announced at 12:00 noon.
